Introducing Barsheem

Barsheem is a singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. Growing up in a home, where the sounds of Motown were played non-stop… and being influenced by Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, Prince, Michael Jackson… his music now ranges from soul, pop, r & b and jazz.

After appearing in episodes of NBC’s “American Dreams” and in a movie “Dreamgirls”, Barsheem started writing and recording his own music. Since his love song, called “No One”, received an overwhelming response on social networks, he got even greater desire to record a full album.

Over a 2 year period he released a couple of songs, including a love song “Now”, the mid tempo groove record “Need You In My Life”, a cover of the Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell’s classic “If This World Were Mine” and a song called “(White World, Black World) Find Happy”, which focuses on racial equality and the pursuit of happiness. The last 2 songs got the attention of Marvin Gaye’s family, so they invited him to perform at Marvin Gaye’s 74th Birthday Celebration.

All of the mentioned songs are now on the long awaited debut album, called “What Is To Be Major”, which was released on February 14, 2014. The album includes 13 songs, written all by Barsheem (except “If This World Were Mine”). You can listen to his album here.

I’ve been playing songs “The Beginning Of Love”, “If This World Were Mine” and “I Believe” on repeat for the whole evening. I REALLY like this guy! And I have a very good feeling about him, I think he’ll get far.
