I’m obsessed with Pentatonix

When I first found their video for a song “Little Drummer Boy” back in November, I thought I “discovered a hot water”. I soon realized that this isn’t so since their videos already had a couple of million views. Wow! I was blown away.

For those who still don’t know who they are… Pentatonix is an American a cappella group of 5 vocalists. They named the group after the pentatonic scale, musical scale or mode with 5 explanatory notes per octave. Quintet performs various musical genres, all from pop, rock, dubstep, electro, reggae to hip-hop.

They became well known to a wider audience after they won the 3rd season of The Sing-Off (an American TV singing competition, featuring a cappella groups), back in 2011.

After winning, they were signed to a record label and released their debut EP, “PTX Vol. 1” a year later. Album contains 7 songs, of which 2 are original, the rest are arrangements of popular songs such as “We Are Young” by Fun., “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye feat. Kimbra, etc.

“PTXmas” is their 2nd EP, released just a few months after their debut. On this album you can find songs such as “Angels We Have Heard On High”, “Carol of the Bells”, “O Holy Night”, “Little Drummer Boy”, etc.

Just a couple of months ago they released “PTX Vol. 2” with 8 tracks, including 3 original songs and a modern twist on the classic “Hit The Road Jack” with original lyrics. My favorite song from the album is the cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ song “Can’t Hold Us”.

I recommend that you look at their YouTube channel and watch all the videos.

They’re currently preparing for their worldwide tour and I’m seriously thinking about going to their concert in Vienna, Austria. Apparently I should quickly decide since their last European tour was completely sold out. I told you they’re good.
